Libido: A review from 2010 that included four randomized clinical studies with a total of 131 participants found evidence that maca improves sexual desire after at least six weeks of ingestion (1).
Fertility: A review in 2016 found some evidence that maca root may increase semen quality in both fertile and infertile men (2).
Menopause: Studies have found maca can reduce menopausal symptoms including hot flashes and night sweats (3). Another study in 2015 found that maca could reduce symptoms of depression in postmenopausal women (4).

Maca is rich in iron and iodine, as well as vitamin C. It includes all eight essential amino acids.
