Meet the herb

Aller-Plex is a blend of reishi spores, nettle, and turmeric: these bio-activated herbs and mushrooms are designed to regulate histamine response, and support the body against seasonal and environmental challenges.

Reishi spores are produced as the reishi mushroom completes its life cycle. The spores contain the highest concentration of active triterpenes, unique to the reishi mushroom.

Nettle is a leafy plant that is found in most temperate regions of the world: its roots and leaves have long been used in herbal medicine.

Turmeric is a popular herb derived from the roots of the plant curcuma longa found mostly in India and Southern Asia. Turmeric is perhaps one of the most researched herbs, with over 5000 peer-reviewed studies looking at its benefits as a useful preventative and disease-modifying agent.

History

Ancient texts and folklore often refer to the reishi mushroom as the ‘Mushroom of Immortality’, underscoring its revered status. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, its use dates back over 2,000 years and its name is often associated with healing, longevity, and immortality.

Nettle has been used as a natural remedy for its healing properties for over 2000 years, more recently its medicinal potential and pharmacological qualities have been more fully appreciated (1).

Turmeric has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years in ceremony and as medicine. It has been used traditionally for many conditions and revered for its anti-inflammatory effects (2).

Benefits

Immune modulation

Reishi spore has multiple functions such as blocking histamine release and inhibiting an overstimulated immune system. It also has an effect on regulating immunity which makes it an excellent choice for allergies (3).

Allergies

Nettle has long been used in traditional medicine to help with seasonal allergies and other mild respiratory conditions. In trials, it has been shown to significantly reduce allergic reactions mostly due to its ability to block histamine receptors and inhibit tryptase, which lowers mast cell degranulation and the release of proinflammatory cytokines (1).

Respiratory health

Turmeric is known for its multiple health-restoring properties and has been used for respiratory disorders. It has been reported to have anti-allergenic properties and reduce allergic response (4).

Key actives

Reishi spores contain 200% more triterpenes than the fruiting body. Triterpenes have been reported to be hepatoprotective, anti-histaminic, and valuable for cardiovascular health amongst other actions (3).

Nettle contains adenine, nicotinamide, synephrine and osthole which have anti-inflammatory and anti-allergenic properties. Synephrine has long been used as a nasal decongestant and is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for seasonal allergies (5).

Turmeric is rich in antioxidants (2), protecting the body from oxidative damage caused by free radicals. Its curcuminoids have been shown to have an inhibitory effect on histamine release from mast cells and a marked inhibition of allergic response (4).
